Welcome to Cringe Chat, a mobile application by Adev ("we", "us", "our"). Cringe Chat lets you import exported conversations from messaging platforms (such as WhatsApp) to receive statistics and optional AI-powered analysis of those conversations.

Protecting your personal data is important to us. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use, process, store, and protect it when you use the Application. We never sell personal information to third parties.

1. Definitions

"User" — any individual accessing or using Cringe Chat.
"Application" — the Cringe Chat mobile application, available on iOS and Android.
"Service" — all functionality provided by Cringe Chat, including statistics and AI-generated conversational analysis.
"Content" — any conversation export, text, or material you import into the Application.
"Analysis" — any automated report, statistic, insight, or AI-generated output produced by the Service.
"Third-Party Platforms" — messaging services from which you may export conversations, such as WhatsApp, Telegram, iMessage, and similar services.

2. Information We Collect

Cringe Chat follows a limited-data collection approach — we collect only what is necessary to operate the Service.

Imported Content

Conversation exports you import are used to compute statistics (message counts, reply times, patterns). Wherever technically possible this processing happens directly on your device.

If you choose to run an AI analysis, the relevant conversation text is transmitted securely to our servers and processed by our AI infrastructure solely to generate that analysis. Raw conversation content is not retained after the analysis has been generated, beyond short-lived operational storage (such as caching or error logs).

Account Information

Where sign-in is offered, you may authenticate via Apple Sign-In or Google Sign-In, or use the app anonymously. Depending on the provider we may receive your email address, an account identifier, and display name. We never receive your passwords.

Analysis Results

Generated analyses and statistics may be stored so you can revisit your results. They are linked exclusively to your account or device and are not visible to other users.

Technical Information

We automatically collect limited technical data: device type, operating system, app version, crash reports, error logs, access timestamps, language preference, and coarse usage analytics. This is used to maintain security, prevent abuse, diagnose issues, and improve the Application.

Payment Information

Subscriptions are processed by the Apple App Store or Google Play Store, with subscription state managed by RevenueCat. We never collect or store your payment card details. Payment providers handle billing information under their own privacy policies.

3. How We Use Information

We use collected information solely to: provide statistics and AI-powered analysis, operate and maintain the Application, authenticate users, manage subscriptions, improve performance, detect fraud or abuse, ensure security, respond to support requests, and comply with legal obligations.

We do not sell, rent, or trade personal data. We do not use your conversations for advertising.

4. Processing of Imported Conversations

Statistics are computed automatically. Optional AI analyses are produced by automated artificial-intelligence systems. We do not manually review private conversations unless required for security or abuse investigations, legally required, or explicitly authorized by you for support purposes.

5. Storage of Conversations and Analyses

We minimize storage of raw conversation content. On-device statistics never leave your phone. Conversation text submitted for AI analysis is processed transiently and not permanently retained; temporary durations may vary with infrastructure, caching, and processing requirements. Generated analyses may be stored so you can access your results in the Application.

6. AI Processing and Third-Party Providers

AI analyses may rely on third-party AI infrastructure (such as large-language-model providers) that process limited data solely to operate the Service. We require providers to implement reasonable security and confidentiality protections. You acknowledge that AI processing involves automated systems operated by external providers.

7. Data Sharing

We do not sell personal data. Information is shared only with trusted providers necessary to operate the Service: hosting and cloud infrastructure, AI processing providers, analytics and crash-reporting providers (such as Firebase/Google Analytics), authentication providers, payment processors (Apple, Google, RevenueCat), and security services. Information may also be disclosed if required by law, to protect rights or safety, or to investigate fraud or abuse.

8. Data Security

We implement technical and organizational safeguards including HTTPS-encrypted communications, restricted server access, infrastructure monitoring, authentication protections, and regular security updates. No system can guarantee absolute security; internet-based services inherently involve some risk.

9. Data Retention

We retain information only as long as reasonably necessary: account information while your account is active; analysis results until you delete them or your account; technical logs for up to 12 months; billing records by payment providers under their legal obligations; temporarily processed conversation content only as long as operationally necessary.

10. Your Rights

Depending on applicable law (including the GDPR if you are in the EU/EEA), you may have the right to access, rectify, delete, restrict, or object to the processing of your personal data, and to data portability. Submit requests to [email protected] — we respond within a reasonable timeframe and in accordance with applicable law.

11. Children's Privacy

Cringe Chat is not intended for children under 13 (or the higher minimum age applicable in your country). If we learn that personal data of a child has been collected, we will delete it as soon as possible. Parents or guardians may contact us at [email protected].

12. Third-Party Platforms

Cringe Chat is an independent service and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or associated with WhatsApp, Meta, Telegram, Apple, Google, or any other messaging platform. All trademarks remain the property of their respective owners. Changes made by third-party platforms may affect certain features.

13. International Data Transfers

We may use infrastructure located in multiple countries; personal information may therefore be transferred internationally. Where such transfers occur we implement reasonable safeguards in accordance with applicable legal requirements.

14. AI Analysis Disclaimer

Analyses are produced automatically by AI systems. Interpretations may be inaccurate, incomplete, or misleading; conversational intent cannot be determined with certainty. Results are for informational and entertainment purposes only and should not be treated as factual certainty.

15. Analytics

The Application uses limited analytics and diagnostic technologies (usage measurement, performance, crash detection). You can control certain permissions and tracking settings through your device's operating-system settings.

16. Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The latest version is always available in the Application and on this page. Continued use of the Service after updates constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.

17. Governing Law

This Privacy Policy is governed by and interpreted in accordance with the laws of the Netherlands. Any dispute arising from it falls under the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent Dutch courts.
